It is a drive that will give you inspiration of Nature's strength and beauty! You will see a lot of jumbled up granite stones..sometimes piles...all along the roadway. And when you realize that you are at 4000 ft and higher elevation and what those stones are is bedrock....it is utterly amazing!!
Gandy Creek Dispersed Camping Area is on the road coming away from Spruce Knob (highest point in WV). Like most forest roads, you need to take yrou time on a lot of it due to rough spots. But it is a great dispersed camping area. You will not regret staying there is you ever get the chance to go see WV!
This is a gorgeous drive right down on the side of the Black Water River! You could almost call it stunning in spots! There is also a couple of miles dispersed campsites along the road.
Decided to follow a Forest Road off the Highlands Scenic Byway....ended up being a really nice drive. Beautiful views, so quiet, and paved all the way across! There are also "fee" campsites there if you are so inclined!
Went to stay a couple of days at some friend's cabin in Helvatia, WV. Such a gorgeous area!
A really gorgeous state park! Clean, set up with the visitor in mind....and a true pleasure to visit and spend some time in!
I love pea salad, and this is my take on Pea Salad! It is really simple, tasty and you can "modify" it to suit just about any taste preferences!!
I'm sure folks know about this...but maybe a few of you are as clueless as I was about this aspect of the Parks/Forests!!
Just a quick look at one of the "One Pan Wonders" that throw together out here in the woods! Fairly quick, easy to mix & only one dish to clean!!
